Key Information Update-November 2023--“Working for Workers” Province of Ontario legislation (Bill 79),
Pending changes are happening resulting from legislation recently passed in the Ontario legislature that will have a direct impact on how many organizations in this province will need to move forward with addressing their employee recruitment initiatives.
The “Working for Workers” legislation (Bill 79), received both Royal Assent and has passed a third reading this fall in the Ontario legislature. When Ontario MPPs return to Queen’s Park the week of November 14, there will be an initial focus on moving forward with the component of this legislation that will make it mandatory for Ontario employers to disclose wages or a salary range on job postings and other recruitment communication sources.
Below are two links to access that provide the most up-to-date information on the proposed introduction of this component of the legislation:

LATEST NEWS ON ONTARIO'S MINIMUM WAGE
A significant increase to Ontario's general Minimum Wage is coming, effective October 1, 2023--It increases over $1.00/hour to $16.55/hour from $15.50/hour--an increase of 6.77%-one of the largest ever single increases to the rate. Much of this can be attributed to the ever-increasing inflation rate.
